Introductory word

By the decision of the Ministry of Health No. 30537/2002, together with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Department of Traumatology of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University was established on 1 December 2002 at the Trauma Hospital in Brno. The father and implementer of the idea of establishing the Traumatology Clinic at the Trauma Hospital was Prof. Peter Wendsche, M.D., CSc., who was also the first head of the Clinic until 2010.

Since the academic school year 2010/11, Prof. MUDr. Miloš Janeček, CSc.

Since the academic school year 2015/16, the Head of the Department of Traumatology was Prof. Libor Paša, M.D., Ph.D., who tragically died in 2022.

The Department of Traumatology is an educational facility and teaching base of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University in Brno. Initially, it provided diagnostic and therapeutic care in the whole range of traumatology and post-traumatic consequences. Over time, the activities of the Department of Traumatology have expanded significantly, especially in the area of undergraduate teaching. At present, the teaching of surgical disciplines (surgery, traumatology, urology, orthopaedics, septic surgery) is carried out in the 3rd, 4th and 6th year of general and paediatric courses, including the teaching of foreign students.

Info about clinic activities

On 15 December 2020, President Miloš Zeman signed the appointment decrees of 80 professors, five of whom work at Masaryk University, on the proposals of the scientific and artistic councils of universities. Among the new professors is also a member of the Department of Traumatology - prof. MUDr. Ján Kočiš, Ph.D.

On 8 May 2021, President Miloš Zeman signed the appointment decrees of 81 professors on the proposals of the scientific and artistic councils of universities. Among the new professors is also a member of the Department of Traumatology - prof. MUDr. Radek Veselý, Ph.D.

On 15 December 2021, President Miloš Zeman signed the appointment decrees of 80 professors, ten of whom work at Masaryk University, on the proposals of the scientific and artistic councils of universities. Among the new professors was also the former head of the Department of Traumatology - prof. MUDr. Libor Paša, Ph.D.

Subdepartment of Trauma Surgery IPVZ

The Subdepartment of Trauma Surgery of the IPVZ is located in the Institute of Trauma in Brno and participates in pre-testing training in the field of Trauma Surgery. It organizes regular seminars (courses), which are certified. Doctors from the Institute of Trauma Surgery in Brno participate as lecturers in pre-testing courses in Trauma Surgery.
