The trauma hospital in Brno took part in the exercise of the Integrated Rescue System of the South Moravian Region, which took place on Wednesday 25 May on the Old Highway in Brno-Bystrc, under the auspices of the Governor Michal Hašek.
The trauma hospital in Brno received a call from the ambulance at 10.25 a.m. By 12.35 p.m. 18 patients had been brought to the new premises of the outpatient tract. Of these, 3 were severely, 3 moderately and 12 lightly injured. The manikins were students of the Secondary Medical School whose injuries looked very plausible. The injured were transported to the hospital in three cases by helicopter and 4 times by ambulance. Three teams were assembled at the hospital to receive patients in serious medical condition. Four ambulances with doctors and nurses were available for the slightly injured. After basic examination and treatment of serious fractures and bleeding and stabilization of condition, patients were taken to wards or operating theatres.
Through the exercise, the hospital tested the new access roads and premises of the OSCHÚS (Department of Permanent Surgical and Trauma Services), which was newly opened in September 2015, with the support of the City of Brno and EU subsidies. The Trauma Hospital in Brno proved that even after the closure of the trauma centre, it is still ready to treat several patients in critical condition. Thanks to the whole team that participated in the exercise.
